His father, a journalist injured in Afghanistan, is transferred for medical care to the other side of the country. I have a huge collection of many of their cookbooks including this one. There are some darkly amusing and arguably insightful commentaries from its two main characters’ philosophically eccentric, psychologically psychopathic, morally nihilistic, politically anarchistic, and culturally subterranean perspectives. The planning and cunning put forth by "the bad guys" was amazing, but as you are so caught up in the story of the Nazi officer from the war onwards you can accept it in the plot. Thoughtful, positive and relentlessly encouraging, it inspired me to take time to contemplate who I want to be in the world, rather than simply focusing on what needed to be done that day.
